PM Modi Inaugurates Historic Railway Projects in Jammu & Kashmir


June 6, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a series of groundbreaking infrastructure projects in Jammu & Kashmir, marking a new chapter in the region’s development journey.

Major Projects Unveiled

  • Chenab Bridge – The world’s highest railway arch bridge, soaring 359 meters above the Chenab River.
  • Anji Khad Bridge – India’s first cable-stayed railway bridge.
  • Vande Bharat Trains – Two new trains connecting Katra to Srinagar, enhancing travel connectivity.

Connectivity to the Nation

These projects are part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL), a 272 km long rail network that links Kashmir with the rest of India for the first time ever. Built with ₹44,000 crore investment, the project includes 36 tunnels and 943 bridges.
